Amethyst

Hiiiiiiii!

How you doin’ :}

I had to make a little getaway to Abuja over a month ago and wanted to make a fresh/ new outfit for the trip. So, during a trip to the market where I usually get my fabrics from, I saw this material! It reminded me of amethyst, purple jewel look, I wanted to use it to make lingerie initially (don’t ask me), I still have the material in fuscia pink, so I can lingerie that. Who will like to see a lingerie tutorial?!

I loved the color, the feel of it and because it looked like fluid when it moved, I could only imagine how it will look in a circle skirt! So, that is what I made. When I first wore the skirt, I wore it with another silk beige shirt for a complete evening look.

You would think because I have an habit of rolling my shirt, I’d just stick to 3/4 sleeves? No, when I have to pray, I’d like to have the option of covering my arms. I also prefer a slim fitted sleeve for a more contemporary look. Kids, cover your arms.

There was minimal styling, you could complete it with a black bag. I hardly carry more than two bags in a year, except I have a super luxury one I need to use for certain events.

Also, make up is annoying. nuff said.

Have a lovely week ahead!

Lotus Eid Promo (Ram winners)

I don’t think rams are the most photogenic animals but the recipients of the gifts sure have wide smiles on their faces. Remember when Lotus was giving away Rams for Eid, 20 of them! Here are pictures of some of the winners and their ‘meat’, lol. And all the names.

Not Earning Enough Money? You Should Still Invest!

Have you been reading about The Lotus Halal Fixed Income Fund here, here and here?

Lotus Capital Halal Fund

Not earning a lot of money shouldn’t mean that you cannot plan for the future. Everyone needs to save regardless of how much they currently earn.

So how do you invest if you earn a small income (however you define “small”)? –  look for an investment that does not require a lot of money! For example, with as low as N5, 000, you can invest in Lotus Capital Limited’s Halal Fixed Income Fund. N5, 000 gives you five units in the Fund, and this is way better than spending all your money paying bills! When you start earning more, you can increase your investment by buying more units.

You may find that if you strike out certain expenses that are not really necessary, you would have some money to invest which you can put away in a mutual fund like the Lotus Halal Fixed Income Fund.

You can learn more about the Fund by sending an email to invest@lotuscapitallimited.com or dialing 01-2914624/0807 709 9551.

How Safe is Your Child’s Financial Future?

Salam alaikum!

Most people will answer this question by saying that they have opened a junior savings account for their child since birth, and put in every monetary gift the child has received. If you are one of such parents, that’s pretty impressive!

Between paying continually rising school fees, house rent and feeding, it is easy to get so caught up in meeting the present needs of our children, that one may not be able to set money aside for their future.

Planning for the child’s future is equally as important as caring for them while they are growing. Opening a savings account for them is merely the first step in helping them build a financially secure future.

As a savings account yields little to no profit, it may not satisfy your desire to leave a legacy for your child. .

So what is better than saving money in a bank account for your child? Investing in their name! A Shari’ah compliant fixed income fund like the Lotus Halal Fixed Income Fund will do more than save your child’s money. It offers you a means of building wealth for your child before they are able to build it for themselves.

Think of all the ways that an investment can help your child in the future. The profits that a halal investment plan yields can go towards paying some of their school fees, buy them a home, pay for their wedding or help them start a business. Children whose parents have made investments for them have a better chance of having a financially secure future, more than their peers.

As human beings, we don’t like thinking about the negative, but as Muslims, we know that “every soul shall taste death”. What happens to young children who unexpectedly lose their parents? How do they survive in life without the people who worked and earned money on their behalf? Life’s unexpected occurrences is the reason financially savvy parents invest for their children. You don’t expect to die or fall ill, but if it were to happen, you wouldn’t want your children to suffer.

In a hadith narrated by Umar, a companion of Prophet Muhammad (SW), the Prophet used to sell the dates of the garden of Bani An-Nadir and store so food for his family that would cover their needs for a whole year. The Prophet planned in advance for the welfare of his family, and so should any Muslim parent.

With as low as N5,000, you can invest in Lotus Capital Limited’s Halal Fixed Income Fund for your child, and help them start their lives with a healthy nest egg.

You can learn more about the Fund by sending an email to invest@lotuscapitallimited.com or dialing 01-2914624/0807 709 9551.

HalTV Habibi Ramadan Season 2

Salam alaikum.

I am always shy to do things like these and for me to do this, it means it is very close to my heart and I would really love all the support this can get.

project-3101-body-Logo_Intro_23.png

So, I came across HalTV last Ramadan and used to watch all their video uploads on youtube, infact it got my housemate emotional (I kind of knew about it through her and on instagram)! They are a muslim lifestyle TV show which boasts of various segments of Habibi Ramadan including Ask the Muslims (my favourite), 100 Muslims 1 question, Friday Khutbah, Iftar with the Hijabi Chef and so much more with top quality contents, I was seriously impressed and happy about it. I was fortunate to meet the brain behind it earlier this year. I loved what it is trying to achieve with re-orientation of Islam. In sha Allah, I should be joining the family soon.

Here is a video message from the Founder;

HalTV is raising funds for Season 2 of Habibi Ramadan which a lot of people have been happy to contribute to. You will see more information here, which is also the link to donate on Launchgood.

No amount is too small and this can only be done with our collective efforts.

Thank you so much as I count on YOUR support.
